The MNO of Poker Jargons
There is a vast amount of poker jargons and terms that any player can come across with during a game of poker. You may have been familiar with some of them in the past, so now we are going to be discussing even more terms from M to O that you can slowly learn and get to know.
Maniac: When one says "maniac" during a poker game, this may refer to a player that is loose and quite aggressive; one who would constantly make a wager and play a number of hands that are rather inferior.
Match the pot: This would mean that a player puts in an amount of money that is equivalent to the rest of the chips found in the pot.
Micro-Limit: In various online poker gaming sites, these are the online poker games that have very small stakes wherein there is no possibility of profiting from them in real card rooms. Examples of these are like twenty five to fifty cents.
Misdeal: A certain deal which is destroyed because of a certain reason that must be dealt again is called a "misdeal."
Move in: Also known as to "go all in", would refer to the act of a player betting all of his stake on the hand that he is currently playing in a game that is with "no-limit".
Muck: To say muck would mean either of three things. First, it could mean the act of folding; secondly, it could mean the act of the player discarding his hand and not having to reveal any of his cards, which is oftentimes done upon winning without the presence of a showdown, or during a showdown when there has been revealed a better hand before his own. Thirdly, it could refer to a discard pile.
Natural card: This refers to a card which is not wild and not modified by the rules of the game.
Offsuit: The term "offsuit" would stand for those cards which are of different suits.
Openers: These are cards being held by a particular player that is playing in a jackpot game that entitles him to be able to open pot.
Option: This jargon would mean either of two things. Firstly, it could stand for the optional wager or draw; and secondly, it could also stand for the right to raise, if there are no other raises, due to the big blind.
Overcard: Refers to a community card that ranks higher than the pocket pair of a player. It could also mean a higher card.
